Sex slave woman “too scared” to leave

This is another example of a case that, while tragic, is NOT a case involving human trafficking.  In order for a situation to qualify as being human trafficking, there must be an exchange of money or something else of value, and coercion, force or fraud must have taken place.  The article states “Police believe the woman was trafficked into Northern Ireland by the man”, but since he didn’t “sell” her to anyone else, this is not human trafficking.  It IS reminiscent of the local Jaycee Lee Dugard case and shows how the psychological damage of living in these circumstances is huge.  Read the full article here.  4/21/17
